In this project, I was collaborating with SMEs in West Sumatra, Indonesia, who are experts in producing traditional shawls with hand embroidery. They used a technique called sulam suji (French knot combined with cut-out embroidery and metalwork technique).
The Designer Dispatch Service (DDS), launched in 2014, aimed to increase Indonesia's exports by creating designs for the European market as part of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade's goal.

After one year of discussion with the craft makers and considering many aspects: the European market, consumer preferences, colour, materials, and production cost, we decided to create a design for a tablecloth set.
The design used pastel colours with a simpler composition to differentiate the market with the same techniques.
